All of the Batmobile was modeling in Fusion.
Based on the 1989 Batmobile, however its new look is my own design.

I'm a fan of the 1989 batmobile, I think it is a fantastic piece of production design.
This is my version of it, I have tweaked and modernized it a bit.
I used this project to develop my hardsurface modeling in Fusion and to push my understanding of optimizing such a complex model in the Unreal Engine.

I wanted to create my own version of the 1989 Batmobile.
One of the main design features of the car is the afterburner engine.
For my Batmobile I wanted to give it more of an extreme look, more of the engine exposed, and bigger wheels at the back.
I also wanted to learn more about the substrate material workflow in Unreal.
All of the materials are substrate including using the thin film feature for the look of the burnt metal on the after burner.

This engine is completely all my design.

Another shot of my Batmobile.

Here you can see some of the side detail.
Modeled in Fusion and textured in Substance designer and Substance Painter

When I was designing and modeling this engine I always had the idea of some animtion of the afterburner "fins".
Here is some screen shots of the rigging process in Unreal.

I enjoyed this process of designing and modelling the engine.
I wanted a lot of the back end exposed.
That meant seeing more of the afterburner and how it connects to the second engine, rear axle and suspension.
I also wanted to at some point animate this car.
I had to think about how the double wishbone suspension attached to the rear and how the axle connected through the afterburner rig via a differential.
I then added in a bottle of NO2 above the engine...... because why not?
